MMR catch-up Vaccination

There is no upper age limit for MMR vaccine and adults who are not protected should also be caught up. Overdue/never vaccinated with MMR - no appointment needed, drop in and we will protect you.

Measles outbreaks have been declared in Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester and Surrey that are linked to large outbreaks in Europe, with Romania, Italy and Germany being the worst affected countries. All UK cases have been reported in children and adults who have not received two doses of the MMR vaccine.

Measles is highly infectious and can lead to serious complications, particularly in immuno-suppressed individuals and young infants. It is also more severe in pregnancy, and increases the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth or preterm delivery.

Under-immunised communities, such as recent migrants and travellers, are at risk of catching measles in the UK. This risk is increased in those that travel to the affected countries, currently Romania, Italy and Germany.

LEADING REGIONAL RESULTS FOR SMEAR TESTS AND CHILD FLU VACCINATIONS AT LAYTON MEDICAL CENTRE

Layton Medical Centre has been informed by the North West Cervical Screening Quality Assurance Reference Centre that we have achieved the highest success rate in whole of the North West  for obtaining smears in our female patients aged 25 – 64. This has been achieved by pro-actively promoting, inviting and following up with all patients within this age group.

Layton Medical Centre has also been informed by Lancashire’s Screening & Information team  that we achieved the highest uptake in Lancashire of nasal flu immunisation in the 2 year old and 4 year old age groups.

Thank you to all our patients who helped us achieve this performance by responding to invitations to come to the practice for tests and immunisation.
